Since we are now facing a Covid third wave, many of us in Hong Kong have become more wary about hygiene in our day to day lives. We will be showing you 3 natural cleaning products to keep your home clean
Some natural ingredients are not only effective in disinfecting your home, they are also sustainable and vegan friendly.
Baking soda
Baking soda can help clean, deodorise and scour away dirt. It is highly recommended to clean our bathrooms such as sinks, toilets and baths etc.
White Vinegar
White Vinegar is incredible in removing stains, grease, dirt and odours. Even though it has an off-putting smell, it can be easily counteracted with essential oils such as lavender.
Essential oils
Essential oils, such as tea tree, lemon and lavender not only are naturally anti-bacterial, they can also help refresh your clothing and surfaces.
Soap nuts
Yes you have read it, there’s a type of nut called soap nuts. Soap nuts will release saponin and dissolve dirt on your clothes in the washing machine. You can add them to your washing machine in a pouch and reuses them for 4 to 5 times until they are grey. After that, you can compost them.
All purpose cleaner
Mix equal parts of water and white vinegar. Add baking soda and around 10 drops of essential oil of your choice. Pour in a spray bottle and mix vigorously. You still think there’s some vinegary smell, you could infuses it with the rind of lemons or oranges to offset the scent. You can use it on hard surfaces such as toilets, shower basins and sinks etc. Avoid using on marble or granite surfaces.
Mould and Mildew Spray
Mix vinegar with tea tree oil and pour in a spray bottle. Spray the affected areas and wait for 30 minutes before rinsing the area with water.
Laundry
You can add soap nuts to your washing machine in a pouch and reuses them for 4 to 5 times until they are grey. After that, you can compost them.
