As summer has made its way into Hong Kong, going to beaches might be a fantastic idea to avoid big utility bills from abusing our air conditioning. Today, we will be introducing our top 5 beach spots in Hong Kong.
1. Half Moon Bay
Aka, Hap Mun Bay, Half Moon Bay is an Island just off Sai Kung. It’s such a picturesque island with great trekking trails. Obviously we wouldn’t recommend to go hiking as you might get heat stroke. The public beach has shower places and lockers for you to store your valuables. Just like any other beaches in Hong Kong, there are floating platforms for you to rest on and sunbathe in the middle of the sea We love the beach has got a half moon shape and you can take instagrammable pictures anywhere on this island.

2. Clear Water Bay
Clear Water Bay is popular amongst Hong Kong tourists and residents. Located in Sai Kung, Clear Water Bay has got a lot to offer apart from being a sandy beach. It’s one of the main beaches in Hong Kong, which they have got all amenities such as changing rooms, shower and toilets etc.
Apart from sunbathing and swimming, nearby there is place called Tai Hang Tun where families and friends can barbecue and practice their kite flying skills.

3. Shek O Beach
Shek O is great place to go if you need to take a break from the city. They have got a very scenic landscape with sandy beaches and a quaint village for travellers to explore.
Shek O has got 40 public barbecue pits, which you need to get there early in case it gets full. Alternatively, you can find private barbecue places such as Liu’s barbecue where they can prepare your food and even cook for you.
If you are up for a photography session, you can head to the rainbow village where a lot of the houses are painted in bright colours.
Feeling adventurous? Shek O has got a hiking trail where you can head to Cape D’Aguilar, the southernmost point in Hong Kong. The trail is paved and relatively easy and flat, suitable for hiking beginners.
You can explore Thunder Cave and Crab Cave. They make the most scenic pictures for you to share with families and friends. Be wary that when you walk down, it can get quite slippery.
